With more than two decades of industry experience, Derek brings extensive knowledge of all phases of the construction life cycle. He has guided and managed construction operations for more than 50 large-scale vertical facility projects ranging from schools and churches to corporate offices and luxury hotels. Having managed large teams and projects valued up to $40 million, Derek understands the importance of establishing effective project management strategies to minimize impacts and changes during construction to meet schedule and budget goals.
As Director of Operations, Derek works with Sand Creek Construction Company’s principals and field managers to develop best practices, build strong relationships, and ensure our work meets our high standards. Derek prides himself on being a problem solver and consensus builder who takes a holistic approach to managing projects. Clients and contractors enjoy working with him because of his passion, commitment to open communication and transparency, and his willingness to take accountability.
Derek holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology from the University of Nebraska. He and his wife reside in Elkhorn, Nebraska, and have three children. In his spare time, Derek serves on various boards including Camp Rivercrest, Iowa Western Community College Construction Advisory, and Bryan High School Construction Advisory.
